Former Labor Sec. Robert Reich has a good blog this morning.

He looks at the wage gains of the bottom 60% of the working population ; the vast inequality of wealth and income; and concludes that a national minimum wage of $10-15 is appropriate.

The majority of workers at the McDonalds and Walmarts are adults, most with children to support.
A living wage for these workers will not compell the corp. honchos to send the jobs to low wage under-developed countries.

The Walmarts and McDonalds on almost every block of our country will remain open; and the workers are needed.

One study estimated that paying McDonald workers as much as $15 hour might raise the price of the Whopper by 2-3 cents. Not a big deal.

Some bloggers here may say that Reich is an unrepentant New Deal liberal; a big government , centralized control, old FDR new dealer.

You can call Reich anything you want, just don’t call the low-paid workers to a dinner they can’t afford
